Lavinia, the Mama, and I have to admit that as much as I like the angel in the previous post, this is a much better painting. Not as much fun to look at, but I was at the top of my game when I did this. It's not a great image of it though, it has a high sheen surface, the angel is gold and copper with bits of red and yellow giving it texture, and the blue has an iridescence that can't be seen even in my best professional photos of it.

ReplyDeleteI'd just watched Julie Taymor's Titus, which is brilliant to look at but painful, and this reminded me of the Lavinia in the tree scene from it.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue very much! It reminds me of the sky. Crikey thinks that the angel must be making a deep warning sound, because her mouth is rounded. Maybe she's waving her arms in an attempt to scare birds out of her corn. Maybe not. ~Tristan
